Charlie Munger, the Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway and the longtime business partner of legendary investor Warren Buffett,
has died at the age of 99.
In a statement, Berkshire Hathaway (
BRK-A,
BRK-B) says Munger's family notified the company that he had passed early Tuesday at a hospital in California.
Buffett is quoted in the statement, saying "Berkshire Hathaway could not have been built to its present status without Charlie’s inspiration, wisdom and participation.”
Munger would have turned 100 on New Year's Day.
